God, give us grace to accept with serenity
the things that cannot be changed,
Courage to change the things
which should be changed,
and the Wisdom to distinguish
the one from the other.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time,
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as Jesus did,
This sinful world as it is,
Not as I would have it,
Trusting that You will make all things right,
If I surrender to Your will,
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life,
And supremely happy with You forever in the next.

Focusing on God, or as AA refers to as “a Higher Power” this prayer is asking for serenity, or to be at peace with situations in life that we cannot change ourselves.
Also the Serenity prayer asks for the strength to change the things that are able to change, for our betterment, to have the ability to make wise decisions that will leave a positive effect on our lives and or situations.
Finally, the Serenity prayer asks our Higher Power to grant us the wisdom, to know, what we can change, through our positive actions, and what we have no ability to change. And to accept both.
